NEW TERROR.
SINN FEIN IN LONDON.
RAIDS IN SEVERAL SUBURBS.
SHOOTING BY MASKED MEN.
By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received May 17, 1.15 a.m. London, May 16. Irish raids were carried out at Catford, Shepherd’s Bush, Battersea, Blackheath, Tooting and West Kensington, on the outskirts of London, almost simultaneously, suggesting a number of well armed and organised bands. Raiders wearing masks and armed with revolvers entered a house, demanding information whether the inmates were members of the Royal Irish Constabulary. A man named McNeill, at Shepherd’s Bush, whose son-in-law was recently in the Irish Constabulary, but who was not in the house, was shot and dangerously wounded. Another at Caterham was shot through both thighs and his wife through the wrist. Following the raids. Scotland lYard mobilised twenty-three motor cars and packed them with detectives, who scoured the quarters where Irish sympathisers congregate. Three arrests were made. It is believed the outrages mark the inauguration of a campaign of terror in London.—United Service.
