THE DOMAIN DEMONSTRATION.
Sydney, May 16. In anticipation of lively proceedings, 50,000 people attended the Domain demonstration. Socialist speakers marched in, attended by a big bodyguard who passed round the platform, and these were backed by a strong body of police. A notable feature was that there was not a Single red flag visible. The crowd was largely composed of loyalists, who heckled the speakers, but beyond that the demonstration passed oil peacefully. The loyalists had let off steam at meetings of their own where Union Jacks were much in evidence. At night they demonstrated outside buildings where the Socialists were holding a meeting, but the police prevented the invasion of the premises.
