HOT RECEPTION IN NEW YORK

Received May 12, 5.5 p.m. New York, May 11. Mr. J. H. Thomas, M.P., the British Laborite, was given a hot reception on arriving here. A big crowd of IrishAmerican Laborites met the boat, flying banners inscribed: “Judas hanged himself What is Thomas going to do. Thomas betrayed the British miners.” Longshoremen booed him. While it is reported Mr. Thomas is here on a diplomatic mission he refused confirmation,,stating he is here for his health.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.

[Mr. Thomas is the leader of the National Union of Railwaymen in Britain, and recent English papers stated he contemplated a visit to America for health Reasons.
