PREMIER OF N.S.W.
HIS MISSION TO LONDON. TESTING THE MONEY MARKET. By Telecraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received May 11, 5.5 p.m. New York, May 10. An Australian Press Association representative interviewed Mr. J. Storey (Premier of New South Wales), who declared he was feeling only slightly better. London specialists forbade him to engage in active work for some time, and recommended an extended trip. Mr. Storey accordingly will visit Japan en route to Australia. Mr. Storey said he went to London mainly to place the necessities of New South Wales, from a development standpoint, before British investors, and to give an account of the reproductive works upon which past loans had been expended, and the specific works contemplated in the near future. He did not go to London! to negotiate a loan, but merely to gauge the position in the event of New South Wales desiring to enter the London market. His mission was highly successful.
Mr. Storey added: “What I have seen of other countries has made me an even more confirmed lover of Australia. Although other countries have been developed to a far greater extent by the employment of capital, Australia has shown very remarkable results considering its youth and its limited opportunity for advancement.” Mr. Storey leaves New York on May 19, sails by the Empress of Russia on May 26, arrives Yokohama June 6, leaves Japan June 13, and is due in Australia about July 12. —Aus. and N.Z.
