CANADA’S BUDGET.
NO CHANGES IN TARIFF,
POSITION OF FINANCES.

The Budget, which was brought down in the House of Commons this evening hy Sir Henry Dayton (Minister of Finance) makes no tariff changes, except provisions completing the trade agreement with the West Indies. The Customs Act changes provide stricter supervision to prevent the dumping of domestic or imported goods. Sales taxes are increased.
The revenue for 1920-21 was 432.000,000 dollars and expenditure 533,368,077 dollars. The estimated revenue for 192122 is 373,000,000 dollars, and the estimated expenditure 591,437,697 dollars. The revenue to be raised thus amounts to 435.360,971 dollars. The surplus over the ordinary expenditure in 1920-21 was 69.400.000 dollars. New taxation provides 62,760,971 dollars. The national debt amounts to 2,350,236,700 dollars.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
