Before the business commences Mr. Justice Reed, who was recently elevated to the Supreme Court Bench, will be welcomed by the Taranaki Law Society on the occasion of his first official visit to this district. The criminal calendar is heavier than has been the case for some time, and includes five prisoners for sentence and two for trial as follow: For Sentence. Raymond Sheaves (attempted burglary and theft). Stephen James (incest). For Trial'. Stuart J. D. Russell (alleged indecent assault). William Webberly (alleged incest).

The civil list is a comparatively light one. It includes one case to be heard before the Judge aud a jury of twelve, three cases before the Judge and juries of four, and several before the Judge alone. There are two divorce petitions, one before the Judge and a jury and the other before the Judge.
