TARANAKI A. AND P. SOCIETY.

GENERAL COMMITTEE MEETING.

The general committee of the Taranaki Metropolitan Agricultural Society met 011 Saturday. I’resent: Messrs. W. B. Grant (chairman), A. R. Gudopp, N. W. Hill, E. C. Stanley, T. H. Allen, A. Turnbull, W. Hall, W. Rumball, A. E. Washer, H. C. Sampson, A. P. Lister, T. Smcllie, S; Vickers, and W. A. Morton

The recommendation of the grounds committed to grant the use of the showgrounds to the Legion of Frontiersmen for an instruction camp, on certain conditions, was approved. At the last meeting of the committee a request was made to the executive to draw up a scale of charges for the use of the showgrounds. . The executive reported back stating they found it impossible to decide on any set scale of fees for grounds or buildings, but were of opinion that every application should be dealt with on its merits. As the result of a recommendation received from the New Zealand AberdeenAngus Breeders’ Association, Hastings, it was decided, owing to the fact that the owner concerned had wrongly altered the dates in the official pedigree certificates, that the following animals be debarred from showing “Eerie,” “Pride of Dallas” and “Erins of Moyness.” The joint secretaries of the New Plymouth Territorial Club (P. R. Sheppard and R. Q. Howell), wrote making application for the use of the annexes to the Coronation Hall in connection with the club’s annual dance, to be held on June 3. It was decided that owing to the annexes being required the following day in connection with the preparatory arrangements for the winter show, the society would be unable to allow the Territorial Club to use the annexes.

The chairman was appointed delegate to the annual conference of the New Zealand Council of Agriculture, to be held at Wellington in July.
