MUCH SHIPPING HELD UP. EXTENSION OF THE TROUBLE. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. New York, May 5. The shipping strike has now tied up 85 per cent, of the vessels in this port. Only four, of 13 ships which were scheduled to sail during the last 24 hours, were able to depart. Two small boats unsuccessfully tried to sail. There, are similar reports from other ports. The United States Shipping Board has ordered that all its crews must either sign articles at reduced wages or leave the ships. On the other hand unions are gradually extending the strike in New York.
