CLARKE MEMORIAL BENEFIT.

The season of the plays, “The Mon< key’s Paw” and “Poached Eggs and Pearls”, staged by New Plymouth amateurs, concluded last night, after show-*; ing for three performances to very large audiences. The entertainment, it ist, estimated, will net a sum of between £l5O and £175 for the Clarke Memorial] Hostel fund, for which object the func< tion was organised. The popularity of- the plays, and thrf' appreciation shown of the work of those; who took part was reflected in the ova-' tion given the company at the conclu-i eion of last night’s performance by »- packed “house”. At the conclusion of the performance;, there was a pleasant little ceremony/ when the company assembled to express’ appreciation of the work of Mr. R. Day,, as stage manager, and he was the re-j cipent of a presentation, which warfi made by Mrs. C. H. Weston, on behalf ] of members.
