AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY.
FAIR IN AID OF CROCKERY FUND.
The ladies’ committee of th© Taranaki Agricultural Society yesterday held a Chrysanthemum Fair at the Coronation Hall with the purpose of securing funds to meet the cost of the purchase of crockery which the society has made in connection with the catering at the autumn and winter shows. There was a bright display of flowers, and a produce stall was fully stocked with a big variety of vegetables, which had been donated to the fair. Many donors also came forward to assist the supplying of the catering for afternoon tea. There were a good number of visitors to the function during the aftenoon and very satisfactory business was recorded.
The various, stalls were in charge of the following committees:—Produce, Mesdames F. H. Sampson, Grover, P. F. Sampson and Leech: Flowers, Mesdames Groome, Downs, E. N. Sampson, Knight, Marsh, Lister, Giddy, T. Sampson, and Boon, and Misses Bennett and Ruebe; afternoon tea, Mesdames Hill, Ruebe, Street, Skelton, Langley, Sampson, Nixon, Holmes, Giddy, Hamilton, Cole, Grant, Bishop, Smellie, Johnson, Cholmeley, and Misses Humphries and Honeyfield. A euchre party and dance held in the evening was well patronised and an enjoyable gathering resulted.
