CANTERBURY TOUR. PLAY TARANAKI AUGUST 4. - By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. The Canterbury Rugby Union has fixed the following dates for the tour of the Canterbury team: — August 4, against Taranaki; August 6, against Wanganui; August 10, against Wairarapa, at Carterton; August 13, against Wellington. An application from the Manawatu Union for a match could not be granted, as it could not* be fitted in with the itinerary. NORTHERN DIVISION. REFEREES FOR SATURDAY. Referees have been appointed as follow for junior (matches in the northern division on Saturday:— Second Grade.—Star v. Clifton, at Western Park, 3 p.m., Mr. D. Johnston; Tukapa v. Lepperton, at Lepperton, 3 p.m., Mr. W. Cleaver. Third Grade.—Star v. Inglewood, at Racecourse No. 1, 3 p.m., Mr. A. McLean. Fourth Grade.—Tukapa v. Old Boys, at Sports Ground, 1.30 p.m., Mr. E. Andrews ; New Plymouth Technical College v. Lepperton, at Racecourse No. 2, 3 p.m., Mr. F.‘ Webb; Clifton v. Star, at Wadtara, 1.30 p.m., Mr. L. Andrews. The following new members have been electea to the Referees’ Association subject to the usual examination:—Messrs. L. Andrews, Davis, Gilbert and W. Hughes. Mr. L. Andrews was admitted to active membership.
The Midhirst-Tariki match, to be played at Tariki next Saturday, has been altered to commence at 2 o’clock instead of 3. The third and fourth-grade matches between Stratford District High School and Eltham teams will both be played at Eltham on Thursday afternoon instead of Saturday afternoon, PRIMARY SCHOOL FOOTBALL. At a meeting of the teachers, held at the Central School on Monday evening, the foli owing fixtures for the Northern Division seniors were decided on • FIRST ROUND. May 21st.—Central v. West End (Western Park) ; Fitzroy v. Waitara (New Plymouth) ; High School (Preparatory) a bye. May 28th.—Central v. Fitzroy (Racecourse) ; Waitara v. High School Waitara) ; West End a bye. June 4th.—Central v. Waitara (Waitara) ; West End v. High School (Racecourse) ; Fitzroy a bye. June 11th.—Central v. High School (Racecourse) ; West End v. Fitzroy (Western Park) ; Waitara a bye. June 18th.—West End v. Waitara (Waitara); Fitzroy v. High School (Racecourse); Central a bye. The fixtures for the juniors and second round will be decided later. NORTHERN UNION FINAL. It Is the first time a Lancashire Club has beaten a Yorkshire Club in the Union since 1905.
