CHRYSANTHEMUM FAIR.
Housewives will be afforded a rare opportunity of replenishing their larders to advantage at the above function to be held in the annex adjoining the Coronation Hall on Thursday afternoon next, as advertised in this issue. Besides chrysanthemums there will be heaps of good things such as jams, sauces, pickles, .vegetables, fruit and home-made bread offering for sale. The fair is being organised by the ladies’ committee of the Taranaki A. and P. Society, the proceeds from which are to be devoted to paying for crockery recently purchased, and required in connection with £]ie catering at the two annual shows.* The ladies are determined to raise sufficient funds to pay for this crockery themselves, and the great reputation they have already gained by their wonderful successes in the catering departments at the shows will doubtless stand them in good stead on this occasion, and •■tend to stimulate interest in Thursday afcrnoon’s function. A euchre party and dance will be held in the Coronation Hall the same evening. Everything possible is being done to ensure the complete success of this fixture. The floor will be dealt with by experts, whilst a first-class orchestra will provide the music, and the supper will be in the capable hhnds of the ladies. Handsome prizes will be awarded the lady and gentleman winners of euchre. At both functions patrons are assured of something special. It is sincerely hoped that the public will respond generously to the efforts of so staunch a band of lady workers.
