A DESTRUCTIVE FIRE.
By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Sydney, April 30. A fire at Ultimo gutted the factories of the Standard Manufacturing Co. and the Omar Knitting Co. The damage is estimated at £50,000.
MASONIC GRAND LODGE.
Brisbane, April 30. The Masonic Unity of Queensland consummated a distinguished gathering by the formation of a United Grand Lodge, representing 14,000 members.
THE SPOOK CRAZE.
Sydney, April 30. The Guyra ghost has taken a new lease of life. Stone-throwing has resumed, while the girl, who previously admitted she was responsible for the trouble, was inside the house. . Kingstown, in the Urall district, has also put in a ghostly claim for a residence there, which has been mysteriously stoned.
COCKATOO ISLAND INQUIRY.
Sydney, April 30. At the Cockatoo Island dock inquiry, evidence was tendered to show that much pilfering was in vogue. A constable gave evidence that he had been told that as much as 50 .per cent of the material loaded on the punts from the transports disappeared before the punts reached the dock.—Aus.-N.Z.
