AMERICA AND JAPAN.
THE DISPUTE OVER YAP.
.1 SIBERIAN POLICY INVOLVED.
By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received April 29, 10.5 p.m. Tokio, April 28.
Baron Kato, interviewed, declared that while Yap was a weighty matter, a solution of the question could not be expected from M. Hara’s Government. Japan could never bear to-be robbed of the mandate, which was properly accorded her i Baron Kato believed America was bringing pressure to bear over Yap because she disliked the Japanese activities in Siberia, and because America jover-estimated Japan’s power. , The newspaper Nichi Nichi Shimbun states the Government has agreed to withdraw from Siberia in principle, but the Foreign Office disagreed concerning the proper time for the withdrawal. — Aus.-N.Z.
