During the debate on the resolution declaring peace with Germany, moved by Senator Knox, Democratic Senators bitterly attacked the measure.
Senator Underwood declared “it abandons the nations which are the United States allies, and means the refusal of America to aid in the collection of reparations.” He added: “The United States will be compelled to go to Germany hat in hand as a supplicant for the negotiation 'of a treaty.”
Senator Nelson declared the resolution specifically deserts France in her hour of need.—Aus.-N Z. Cable Assn.
