NEW HOSPITALS.

PRIVATE WARDS ATTACHED.

A LESSON FROM CANADA.

By Telegraph.—Press Association. Masterton, Last Night.

An interesting scheme was put forward at the Wairarapa Hospital Board meeting to-day by Dr. Dawson, medical superintendent at the Pahiatua Hospital, with reference to the introduction of the Toronto system in public hospitals. Under thus system hospitals are fitted, in addition to "the ordinary wards, with small private wards for patients prepared to pay for the privilege. Extra wards are also the use of indigent and maternity cases. The Health Department approves the scheme, if successful, with a‘'view to the system being extended in other parte of the Dominion. The scheme has been in successful operation in Canada for many years past. The proposal was postponed, at the suggestion of the Pahiatua delegates, until the Hospital Commission report is brought down.
