THE BANK RATE.
REDUCTION IN ENGLAND.
MAY REVIVE TRADE.
By Telegraph.— Press Assa.—Copyright.
Received April 29, 5.5 p.m. London, April 28. There was much excitement in the Wcinity of the Bank of England when a reduction in the bank rate was announced. The adoption of a middle course policy was not expected. It is believed to be due to the coal trouble. This is the first time it has been reduced by one-half per cent, when over five. Stockbrokers are speculating on the prospects of a revival of markets by the lifting of what was regraded as one of the most restrictive influences on trade generally.—Aus. and N.Z. Cable Assn.
