After a voyage of seventy days from Cardiff, the Wlrrall Transport Company’s steamer Doon-holm arrived in the stream at Lyttelton on Friday. The Doonholm left the Welsh port on February 15, and imet with fair weather crossing the Atlantic. The Panama Canal was cleared on March 13, and the voyage was uneventful until April 14, when nearing the New Zealand coast, a fierce southwesterly gale was encountered, which lasted until Wednesday of last week. The Doonholm made very slow progress against the storm, her speed averaging only four knots for the six days in which she was in it. On her worst days she averaged only 2.9 knots. A rather unusual feature in these days is a set of sails carried by the vessel; but with a following wind the sails are spread, and compensate to some extent for low engine power. Captain W. R. S. Brannigan is in command of the vessel.
