Mr. P. V. Storkey, V.C., son of Mr. and Mrs. Storkey, of Napier, who is associate to Mr. Justice Wade in Sydney, recently passed his final law examination.

Mr. H. W. Wait, popularly known aa “Dad Egan,” who was a newspaper seller in Christchurch for over thirty years, died last week.

Messrs. A. L. Moore, Director of the New Plymouth Technical School, and Mr. R. J. Thompson, Director of the Ashburton School, have been appointed representatives on the Appeal Board in connection with technical and manual training classes. Councillor H. M. Rathbone has been elected unopposed as Mayor of Waipawa, and Mr. A. E. Goodger has been re-elected unopposed as Mayor of Waipukurau.

Mr. Roger Greenwood, of Urenui, who had’the misfortune to cut his arm and chin when using a circular saw, was brought to a New Plymouth private hospital. His condition is reported to •be quite satisfactory. The appointment of Miss Helen Kilgour as secretary of the Grey Hospital Board marks the first occasion in New Zealand on which a woman has been chosen for such a position. Miss Kilgour was previously clerk and typist in the board office.

Sir John Roberts, C.M.G. (ViceChancellor of the University Council) has resigned after twenty years’ service. Last year—the jubilee year—he presented £lOOO to the university for the founding of a fund for research in medicine. He first joined the council in 1885. The annual report of the Central School Committee to the* householders’ meeting last night extended to Mr. I’. S. Whitcombe, secretary to the Taranaki Education Board, who is about to retire from the service, the committee’s heartiest thanks for many courtesies, • and offered best wishes for his welfarl in the future. Mr. J. G. Harkness, for twenty years the executive head of the National Dairy Association, will retire from that position at the end of April. The New Zealand Dairyman suggests that he should be called to the Legislative Council as a representative of one of the most important industries of the Dominion, which at present has only one representative, the Hon. Mr. Gow, in the Upper Chamber. Mr. W. T. Jennings, M.P., arrived in New Plymouth yesterday from Whangaipomona after a visit to portions of his electorate. Socials to farewell Mr. Jennings before his departure for Egypt and the Old Country were given at Matiere and Ohura on Saturday, the chairman of the county (Mr. Sowry) presiding over representative gatherings of settlers and returned soldiers from Toki. rima, Tatu, Niho Niho and Waitaanga. At Ohura .g presentation was made to Mr. Jennings.
