HOSPITAL COMMISSION.

SITTING AT CHRISTCHURCH. By Telegraph -Pre®'-- Association Christchurch, April 23. The Hospital Commteision resumed today. • Mr. Otley, chairman of the North Canterbury Board, said that the four large hospitals should receive a flat rate of Government subsidies. He did not favor the abolition of the subsidies as they came from the consolidated fund, and if they were abolished the cost would fall on property owners. Members of hospital boards should be elected on a universal suffrage. He could see no use in Government nominees being appointed. Two base hospitals for the South Island would prove satisfactory. Each board should purchase supplies on the best markets. He was opposed to a purchasing board making the arrangements.
