The Australian manufacturers* conference at Launceston adopted a resolution that steps be taken to bring all employers of labor in Australia into a federated body to enable them to speak with one voice when occasion demands. The mover of the resolution stated that the suggestion was made in view of the organisation launched by the big unions. Another delegate suggested that the proposed federation should act and not speak. He urged the method adopted by Germany, where 70,000 volunteers had b£en enlisted to break strikes.—Aus. and N.Z.
