REPARATIONS.

GUARANTEE SOUGHT. DRASTIC DEMAND ON BANKS. OUTCRY IN GERMANY. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received April 19, 10.30 p.m. Berlin, April 18. The Reparations Commission has demanded that the gold reserve of the Keichs Bank and other note-issuing banks, be deposited in the occupied area before May 1, as a guarantee that the German deliveries due on that date will be made. The commission also demanded an undertaking from the German Government that the sum must not be utilised for the settlement of other creditors without the consent of the commission.

There is a great public outcry against the demands, and it is expected that the Government will refuse to comply.— Aus. and N.Z. Cable Assn.
