FILLING POSTS AS STEWARDS. A DIFFICULTY IF WAR CAME. By Telegraph.—Tress Assn —Copyright. Received April 19, 5A p.m. Washington. April 18. Mr. V. S. McClatchy, representing the Japanese Exclusion League of California, appeared before the House Immigration Committee and urged the absolute exclusion of all Japanese immigration, withholding American citizenship from all members of the yellow race. Mr. McClatchy protested against naturalised Japanese being stewards on board American warship®, declaring that Under the Japanese law they would remain Japanese subjects, and in the event of war would, be traitors to the United States. He charged Japan with engineering the sugar strike at Hawaii as part of its plan to force the right of land ownership by Japanese there. — Ad’’, and N.Z. Cable Assn.
