KILLED BY TRAM-CAR. By Telegraph —Press Association. Auckland, April IS. In Queen Street on Saturday evening an elderly man was knocked down by a tram-car. He was admitted to the Auckland Hospital suffering from injuries to his head and a broken leg. He died and has not been identified. Auckland, April IS. The man killed in the tram accident has been identified as James M'Kinnon, aged 75 years. ACCIDENT AT SAWMILL. Taihape, April 18. At the Nuhitahi sawmill a hand named Joseph Mear had a sensational experience on the saw-bench while the saws were stationary, when the swinging belt gripped the saw pulley sufficiently to start both saws. The top saw inflicted a wound from the centre of his forehead over to the base of the skull at the back. He was only saved from being halved by the belt swinging off the pulley again. Mear was taken to the Taihape Hospital.
