DEATH OF A NURSE.
TRAGEDY AT PRIVATE HOSPITAL. A DOSE OF LYSOL. A nurse named Doris Cortios Bram- ’ ley, aged 31 years, was last night found dead in bed at a New Plymouth private hospital, of which she was a member of the staff, under circumstances which point to suicide. The deceased, who had been on nigh’ duty on Sunday, went to bed about ‘J o’clock .yesterday morning, and as was the custom at the hospital, was not disturbed during the day. About 8.30 last night, when another nurse went to awaken Miss Bramley, she found her dead in bed. Medical assistance was summoned, and the opinion was expressed that deceased had taken lysol, a half-empty bottle of this liquid being found on a table near the head of deceased’s bed. An examination showed that the lips and chin were burnt, the effects being similar to those of lysol. Deceased, whose parents reside at Onehunga, did not appear depressed before retiring, and was apparently iq her usual health. She had recently been under medical treatment, having complained of pains in the head.
An inquest will be held to-day.
