TARANAKI MEN’S HOCKEY ASSOCIATION. ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Taranaki Men’s Hockey Association was held at Hawera on Friday. Mr. B. McCarthy, president of the Association, was in the chair, and the following delegates were present: Messrs. McLachlan and Foden (Hawera Rivals), Priest and Nicholls (Kaponga), Henrickson and Primmer (Eltham), ‘Wilson and Espiner (Manaia), Wilton and Morrissey (Old Boys), and L. Marter (referee). Apologies for absence were received from Stratford and Inglewood. A motion of sympathy and condolence with the family of the late Mr. W. D. Powdrell in their recent sad bereavement was passed, membe.c standing a moment in silence.

Tn commenting on the annual report anti balance-sheet, the chairman stated that he thought the club should compete this year for the “Nordon Cup.” This was also the opinion of the meeting, and it was decided to lodge a challenge with the New Zealand Association immediately. On the motion of Messrs. Foden and McLachlen it was decided to instruct the Association’s delegate to the New Zealand Association to ask that the number of matches played during the year for the N.Z. Hockey Shield be limited to four.

A resolution was passed unanimously stating that the Association favored the Saturday half-holiday, and that if carried it would be a boon to all sport. It was decided to organise a referees’ association.

The following officers were elected: Patron, Mr. E. Dixon, M.P.; president, Mr. B. McCarthy; vice-presidents, Messrs. Ward (Kaponga), Pennington (Eltham), S. J. Bennett (Manaia), T. Taylor (Hawera), and the presidents of the Inglewood and Stratford Clubs; hon. sec. Mr. C. E. Morrissey; delegate to N.Z. Association, Mr. G. Strack; hon. auditor, Mr. W. E. Williams. HIGH SCHOOL OLD GIRLS. The annual meeting of the New Plymouth High School Old Girls’ Hockey Club was held on Friday evening at the Soldiers’ Club, Miss Andrews presiding, when the following officers were elected:—President, Miss E. Andrews; vicepresidents, Mrs. Wilson (Mayoress), Mrs. Burgess, Mrs. Walker, Mrs. Weston, Miss Allen, Mr. P. Stainton, Mr. W. G, Reid. Mr. A. P. Standish; captain. Miss Wallach; vice-captain, Miss M. Evans; secretary and treasurer, Miss L. Gleeson; delegates, Misses Wallach and Gleeson. STRATFORD LADIES’ CLUB.

The Stratford Ladies’ Hockey Club held a successful practice game on Victoria Park on Saturday afternoon.
