In the covered courts tennis championship, Lycett defeated von Braun, 4 —6, 6—3, B—6, 6—4; Davison and Mavrogordato beat F. M. B. Fisher and W. Boteford, 3—6. 6—2/6—3, 6—2. In the semi-finals of the mixed doubles, Fisher and Mrs. Peacock beat G. Sherwell and Miss Holman, 6 —l, 6—4 The Lycett—Braun match was the best contest seen in the championships. Braun's driving was of the hurricane variety, both forehand and backhand. He volleyed excellently and served the high) kicking American delivery, which fully tested Lycett’s powers of return. NEW AUSTRALIAN CONTEST. Sydney, April 16. The Lawn Tennis Association is cabling to France to ascertain if. she is prepared to send a team to Australia and New Zealand at the end of the year, including Mademoiselle Lenglen. It has also decided to establish a competition, open to all the Australian States and New Zealand on Davis Cup lines, the winne| to hold the Anthony Wilding Cup, which was won by Wilding in the competitions and presented to the Australian Tennis Association by his parents. S Western Australia has been granted the right to h§ld the Australasian championships in December next at Perth.
