PATRIOTIC FUNDS.
AUCKLAND MONEY DEPLETED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, April 14. The depletion of the funds of the Auckland Patriotic Association available for assisting permanently disabled soldiers was considered by the executive committee controlling this part of the association’s work, and authority was given to make reduced grants, except in cases of real financial necessity. The total paid to disabled men to date is £77,998. Mr. Larner stated that the committee had dealt with 327 men in the last 18 months, and spent nearly £BO,OOO. If it had another 327 applicants and spent £BO,OOO on them it would have £70,000 left. He thought they were unduly nervous.
The president stated that the interest to credit, formerly £15,000 annually, would be half that amount this year.
