PRICE OF BEEF.
FURTHER DROP AT WESTFIELD. By Telegraph —Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. A further drop in the price of beef took place at the Westfield fat stock market to-day, the decline ranging from 2s to 4s per 1001 b. A similar drop was reported last week, when prices touched the low level of three weeks before, when best beef was sold at £2 per 1001 b. There was a very heavy yarding today, the supply being in excess of requirements. Extra choice sold up to £1 18s per 1001 b, prime £1 10s to £1 16s per 1001 b, ordinary and plain £1 3s to £1 9s per 1001 b, prime young cow and heifer £1 2s to £1 12s 6d, and rough beef from 10s upwards. The price of sheep also dropped to an average extent of 2s per head.
