THE RAILWAYS.

ENGINE-DRIVERS’ DISPUTE. THE TROUBLE ENDED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The engine-drivers’ dispute has been settled for the present, and whatever trouble there was is at an end. The Prime Minister and the General, Manager for Railways had a long conference with representatives of the E.F.C.A., and after a lengthy talk an understanding 'was arrived at. The whole thing was really a misunderstanding; putting it another way, it was a mere difference of opinion as to the interpretation of a clause in the agreement. The difference of opinion was not with the Prime Minister or the General Manager, but with the officers of the department who had the matter to deal with. There is no fear of trouble.
