F.C.O.S.‘MARKET REPORT. The Farmers’ Co-operative Organisation Society of New Zealand, report that sales during the week have been. much, brighter, there being considerably more enquiry at slightly increased prices. At Opunake on Monday a fair yarding of cattle. Fat and forward cows, £4 to £5 ss; forward do., £3; boners; 20e td ,355; bulls, £1 4s to £2 15s; Jersey cross heifers, £3 10s and £2 18s; mixed breeds, £1 10s to £2; good Shorthorn steers, 375; 'others to 15s. On Tuesday, at Manaia, we had a fair yarding. Suckers and slips, 3s 6d to 5s 6d; store lambs to 8s Id; fat and forward ewes, 10s; fat cows, £5 2s to £6; forward cows to £3; boners, £1 Is to £1 10s; bulls, to £2 10s; mixed Weaner heifers, £1 10s to £1 17s. On Wednesday, at Eltham, a fair entry of grown cattle and sheep, and a large yarding of calves, came forward. There was a much better demand and a satisfactory clearance was effected at prices showing an upward tendency on late rates. Two-tooth wethers to 13s 3d, best lambs 10s, others to 8s 6d, freshconditioned ewes to 9s, fat cows £5 10s to £6 4s, forward do. to £3, boners to 355, bulls £3 to £6.
On Thursday, at Hawera, we had a good yarding. Slips made to Ils, suckers 3s to 7s, best lambs to 10s lOd, others to 6s 3d and 4s Id, aged wethers to 8s 3d, store ewes to 6s, fat cows to £6 15s, forward cows to £3 10s, Jersey weaner heifers to £4 2s, mixed Jersey cross do. to £2 10s, other breeds to 30s, steer calves 10s to 20s, dairy cows £9 to £ll 10s.
At Waveriey, on Friday, a small yarding came forward, which sold at late rates. Sucking pigs to 12s, dairy cows to £l2 ss, forward cows £2 to £2 Bs, boners 27s to 325.
WAIKATO .MARKET.
The Farmers’ Co-op. Auctioneering Co., Ltd., report:— At Hamilton on Thursday, April 7th, we had a good average yarding of all classes of stock, most of which we were successful in disposing of. Beef was in fair supply, but values were not up to the previous week. Steers made to £9 6s; cows, best, £6 to £8 3s; smaller sorts, £4 15s to £5 15s; store cows, 15s to £1 15s. The yarding of store cattle was lighter than usual, and without any improvement in price. Heifers in calf (20 months) made £5 10s; calves were easier than last week, good medium sorts making to 225; small, 4s to Ss. The sheep pens were well filled, and although values were not high, competition up to the point reached was fairly brisk. Fat ewes realised from 14s 6d to 17s, fat and forward wethers 15s to 17s, fat lambs 15s 9d, store lambs 6s 2d. Pigs showed no improvement on the previous 'week’s rates. Baconers made to £4 6s, porkers ,£1 to £2 15s, weaners 3s 6d to 10s. ’
LOAN & MERCANTILE REPORT.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., Stratford, report as follows: With Newton King, Ltd., we had a good yarding at Kohuratahi on Wednesday, March 30. Competition was dull, but vendore in most cases decided to meet the market, and most of the stock yarded was sold. Prices:—M.S. lambs, 5s 2d to 5s 6d; 2-tooth wethers, 8s; 6-tooth wethers, 9s to 10s; 6-tooth to 4yr ewes, 8S 3d. At Te Wera on Friday last we had a fair yarding of both sheep and cattle, and disposed of all but one pen of cattle. Prices:—M.S. lambs 3s; f.m. ewes, 4, 5 and 6-tooth and 4yr do. 8s lid; Romney rams, 2-tooth, l%gns; 20-month steers, £2 7s to £2 12e 6d; store cows, 28s to 535; bull, 295. Private Sales. —Market is very quiet, but we have several inquiries for good 2iyr i.c. heifers (well into Jersey preerred). Sales made include 4-tooth Romney rams, 1A to 2 gns; wether lambs, 8s 3d to 8s 9d; 20-month to 2Ayr heifers i.c., £7 15s.
