TARANAKI A. AND P. SOCIETY.
MEETING OF GENERAL COMMITTEE A meeting of the general committee of the Taranaki A. and P. Society was held on Saturday, Mr. W. B. Grant siding. A recommendation received from the executive committee that the prize money in the field acreage competition be reduced by one-half was adopted. Votes of thanks were accorded the following for assistance rendered in various directions in connection with the autumn show. Messrs. J. Kibby, G. Colson, Lealand, and J. W. J. Gardener, Taranaki Farmers’ Meat Company, Railway Department, Bell Block Hall Committee, and Messrs. E. E. Beale, Sole Bros., T. Hook, and W. MeKenzie. A suggestion was put forward for future consideration that the dairy cows be judged at 9 o’clock instead of ten at the next autumn show.
The question of including a motor ear driving competition in the programme for the autumn fixture is also to be considered.
Among suggestions put forward for consideration was that the executive be recommended to post up notices in the show grounds pointing out that no ribbons, prize colors or tickets will be permitted on any exhibit unless awarded during the show. The question was brought up in view of the fact that some exhibitors displayed ribbons won bv the stock at other shows.
The question of instituting a class for calves (since November) was also referred to the schedule committee.
