THE LOCO MEN’S DISPUTE PROTEST TO PREMIER. By Telegraph —Press Association. Wellington, April 9. . No further developments are reported in the. dispute between the loco men on the railways and the Railway Department. The men have protested against the instruction of the department regarding standing time, which they claim is a breach of the agreement, under which all standing time was to be paid ■for at ordinary rates and work done as overtime at overtime rates. The grand council of the Enginedrivers’, Firemen and Cleaners’ Association mat yesterday, but made no public announcement. In the absence of the Prime Minister and Minister of Railways, to whom a protest was made in the* Taranaki district the council has decided to wait a little while in order that the Minister may have ample opportunity to consider the requests and reply.
