The wholesalers aye charging about 267 s for first and second grade New Zealand, and 249 s 4d for Australian. Retailers are anxious to secure good supplies, fearing a transport strike. Cheese is less active, retailers already holding fair stocks. Colored remains unchanged. White New Zealand, 140 s to 1425, Australian 138 s. Sugar.—Unchanged. Wheat.—Quiet for parcels. A cargo of Australian sold at 78s 6d. Flour.—’Slow. Australian spot 66s fid to 675. Oats.—Firm and quiet. Barley.—lnactive. Australian Chevalier, landed, 67s to 70s. Beans.—Quiet and unchanged. Peas.—Steady. Australian blues 3605, marrowfats 400 s ex store. —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. LONDON WOOL SALES. London, April 7 (delayed). At the wool sales the first Bawra catalogue was offered with reserves on the basis of February rates. No bids were forthcoming. After several lots had been vainly offered, Mr. Ronald, representing Bawra, asked: “Is It worth proceeding with the sale?’’ Buyers shouted “Nol’’ Mr. Ronald then asked: “What about to-morrow’s catalogue?” Buy'ers repeated that they would not bid if the -eserves were maintained. So the Bawra sales were cancelled for this series. A free wool sale followed. A good selection of scoured and greasy merinos met with good competition at yesterday's level, Yorkshire buyers operating. Bradford is quiet and irregular at 23d. for 56's and 20d for 50s.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. NEWTON KING, LTD. REPORTS. At Urenui on April 4 we had a fair entry of both sheep and cattle, most of which sold. Prices showed little movement. Lambs 7s 6d, small 2 and 4-tooth wethers 8s Bd, light fat steers £5 10s, £5 19s fid, forward store cows £3 17s 6d, mixed sex weaners 21s 6d, in calf heifers £5, dairy cow £9. At Stratford on sth inst. sheep and cattle came forward in. increased numbers compared with recent yardhigs. The market had a much brighter tone throughout, strong local enquiry accounting for the whole offering being cleared at the hammer. Prices advanced a shade all round. Lambs shorn to 9s 3d, woolly 7s fid to 10s 6d, 2 and 4-tooth wethers 13s 6d, 14s fid, 10s 6d, full mouthed ewes 7s, 10s, store cows light and aged £1 7s Od, £1 18s, better sorts £2'los, £3 Ils, £4 2s 6d, fat cows £4 10s, £5 7s 6d, bulls £1 2s fid, £1 19s, cows and calves £2 2s 6d, £3 10s, £5 12s 6d, weaner heifers 28s, 30s fid, small steer 1.55, Jersey heifers £3-6s,jin calf heifers £4 ss, springing heifers £lO, £l6 10 s. At Inglewood on April 6 we report a big entry of sheep arid 'ihoderate one of cattle, if anything the general tone was an improvement on late sales, and tile bulk of the yarding was cleared. Fat lambs 12s 7d, cull lambs 4s 7d, ordinary do. 7s, 7s 3d, 7s 6d, 10s, wethers 14s 9d, forward ewes 10s, 10s Bd, small weaner heifers 15s, Jersey do. £3 ss, late weaner steers 7s 6d, 18-month steers £1 2s 6d, £2, 2%-year old do. £2 Ils, store cows £1 2s 6d, £1 7s, £1 10s, fap do. £5, springing heifer £6, goats 8s 10s.
