The Financial News publishes a statement, described as from a trustworthy source, that a mysterious meeting of German bankers at Berlin proposed a capital levy on April 15 on one half of all possessions of every German, with a view to meeting the reparations obligations. When 90,000,000,000 marks have been paid the Allies’ international body of economic experts will fix the final amount. The Allies will be asked to remove the 12 per cent, export fluty, Germany guaranteeing free trade in foreign imports.—Aus. and N.Z. Cable Assn.
