A nailed to the mast-head of the trawler Moerangi attracted considerable attention recently when the boat made fast at the ferry jetty with an exceptionally large catch on board (says the Dunedin Star.) lhe fish turned out to be a flounder of enormous dimensions, and the skipper no douhtjised it as an emblem to advertisp his wares while coming up the harbour. While the sale of his catch was in progress he announced to the crowd on the wharf that he would make a present of the fish to the person making the nearest guess as to its exact dimenteions. There were many competitors, and a youth was awarded the prize, his answer being that the flounder was Ulin, in length 13Ain in width. Its actual measurements were IfiJin by L3Mn. Another competitor was close to the mark with a guess of 20in by 14in. Tlic skipper also presented the winner with half-a-dozen soles in addition to the <1 -
