CROQUET.

TARANAKI ASSOCIATION. A meeting was held on the 6th Inst., at the Soldiers’ Club, for the * purpose of forming the Taranaki Croquet Association on a provincial basis, making New Plyimouth its centre. Mrs. D. K. Morrison presided. Several members, representing Hawera, Stratford, Waitara, Fitzroy, Park, and New Plymouth clubs, were present. An apology for non-attendance was received from Eltham. Patea, Manaia, and Inglewood clubs were desirous of representation, but were unable to send delegates. The meeting was very enthusiastic, and keen interest was shown in the proceedings. After the association had been formed, and it had been decided that New Plymouth should be its centre, the following officers were appointed :—President, Dr. Home; vice-presi-dents, Dr. Campbell (Waitara), Dr. Wade. Moore, A. Webster and T. C. List; conumittee, Mrs. Morris (Hawera), Mrs. Beira (Stratford),! Mrs. Eraser (Waitara), 1 Mrs. Hill (Park),, Miss Ward (Fitzroy), Mrs. Haseler (New Plymouth), with Mrs. D. K. Morrison as hon. secretary. It was resolved that in order to fall iaito line with the annual meetings of other district associations, including Wellington, Auckland, Manawatu, and Waikato, and the N.Z. Croquet Council, the annual meeting of the Taranaki Association be held in the first in September next. The whole idea of forming the Association is to foster competitions art)! establish good relations between croquet players generally, and to standardise play and rules under the broad general guidance of the N.Z. Croquet Council. HAWERA v. STRATFORD. A team of Hawera croquet motored to Stratford on Tuesday and spent a most enjoyable day on the courts. The result of the match was a win for Hawera by 77 points. The scores are as follows, being mentioned first: — Doubles.—Mesdames Moon and Riera 9, v. Mesdaanes Bennett and Jarvie 26; Mesdames Boon and Purcell 26, v. Mrs. Glasson Miss Power 1G; Mesdames White and Weston 23, v. Mesdames Cowern and Suisted 20; Mesdames Curtis and North 10, v. Mesdames J. Campbell and Bilton 26. Singles.—Mrs. Moon 0, v. Mrs. Bennett 26; Mrs. Riera 3. v. Mrs. Jarvie 26; Mrs. Boon 26, v. Mrs. Glasson 0; Mrs. Purcell 16, v. Miss Power 26; Mrs. White 25, v. Mrs. Cowern 26; Mrs. Weston 26, v.
