THE HOUSE RE-ASSEMBLED. TARIFF THE CHIEF BUSINESS. By Telegraph.—Press Assn—Copyright. Received April 6, 10.35 p.m. Melbourne, April 6. The Federal House of Representatives has re-assembled. Mr. Mahoney gave notice of his intention to move the adjournment to discuss Cockatoo Island and the recent dismissal of workmen. The Premier (Mr. W. M. Hughes), stated it was not the intention of the Government to introduce any new legislation this session, but to confine their work to the tariff. He would give the House an opportunity on Thursday to discuss the Imperial Conference.
Mr. Fowler states he has decided not to proceed with his censure motion, on the ground that if he did so it would probably be seized upon by the Labor Party to the embarrassment of his friends.
Mr. Hughes annouonoed definitely that he had no intention of taking the* High Commissionership. Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
Received April 7, 1.30 a.m. Melbourne, April 6. In the House of Representatives Mr. Page gave, notice of metion that the Minister of State for the Colonies should, after the prorogation of the present session, advise the Governor-General to summon the next session at Canberra.
