OBITUARY.
(From Our Albert Road Correspondent.) With feelings of sincere regret, residents of this district, part and present, will note ’the passing to the Great Beyond of Mrs. David Jordan. Nearly thirty years ago, the late Mrs. Jordan, who was a daughter of one of Taranaki’s pioneer settlers (Mr. Samuel James, long deceased), with her husband, Mr. D. Jordan, took up a fairly large bush section here on which the well konwn land mark, “German Hill,” stands. Years of hard toil converted this heavy bush section into a well ordered, clean, and thoroughly well-managed farm, and some two years ago, our late neighbors, with a view to taking life a bit easier during their remaining days, removed to Fitzroy, leaving the care of the farm in the safe keeping of two married sons. Unfortunately, a few months ago Mrs. Jordan of her hands, and though the injury was slight and nothing serious was anticipated, later blood poisoning set in, with the fatal and sad result. The bereaved relations include the husband, Mr. Jordan, and a large family of sons and daughters, mostly married, and a number of grandchildren, besides many other near relatives, and all these will have the sympathy of a wide circle of friends. The deceased was of an unassuming and kindly nature, and her death, so soon after removing from the scene of her long years of toil, will add to its sadness. Peace be wjth her.
