SATURDAY HALF-HOLIDAY.
SCHOOL COMMITTEES’ PROTEST. (From Our Own Correspondent.) Stratford, Last Night. A special meeting of the Stratford District School Committees’ Association was held this afternoon, * the following delegates being present: Mr. J. Pinhey. (Stratford) in the Chair, Mrs. I. Cuth« bert (Pembroke Road), Mrs. Walli* (Midhirst), Messrs. Vickers (Radnor Road)* M. Gernhoefer (Toko), E. Marfell (Raupihu), D. Blackstock (Pukengahu), F. E. Bocock (Bird Road), and T. Chapman (Douglas). The Douglas, Kohuratahi, Tahora, York Road, Raupihu, Pembroke Road, Bird. Road, Radnor Road and Midhirst Schools .wrote protesting against the Saturday half-holiday, Hurimoana favoring Saturday, while had decided to take no action. After considerable discussion it was unanimously resolved, on the’ motion of Mr. Marfell, seconded by Mr. Chapman: “That the association protest to the authorities that the Saturday half-holi-< day is detrimental to the best interests' of schools.”
