SECOND TEST MATCH. AUSTRALIA’S EASY WIN. AN INNINGS AND 227 RUNS. By Telegraph —Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. The second test match was resumed to-day at Eden Park in glorious weather and the wicket was wearing well. The attendance at the outset was very small indeed. New Zealand’s first innings closed before the lunch adjournment, and following on they were all out again before the tea adjournment. Australia winning by an innings and 227 runs. New Zealand's “tail” failed to wag in the first innings, which closed for 259 after 25 -r minutes’ play. Following on, Blunt and Hiddleston gave the home team a good start, 68 being hoisted before Blunt left. The remainder of the team, however, failed to stay, and were all out for 177. The Times says that English cricketing circles have hdnestly got the wind up regarding the visit of Armstrong's formidable team, and it believes Marylebone Chib will be compelled drastically to reinforce the list of possible test players, dropping several of the ancients and scouting throughout the counties for new men. After reviewing the chances of a number of new men among the professionals. it says that the possibility of Frljr and Spooner re-entering the test field is being canvassed. If Spooner en ters the tests he will be a strong candidate for the English captaincy. — Times.
