LABOR PARTY’S PRESIDENT. By Telegraph.—Frees Assn.—Copyright. Received April 3, 5.5 p.m. Sydney, April 3. The fight for the presidency of the Australian Labor Party resulted amid much excitement in the re-election of the Lord Mayor, Mr. Lambert, who defeated Mr. Mitchell, the nominee of the Catts’ faction, and reputedly of the Government. Mr. Lambert’s majority was forty-six votes. The struggle throughout was marked by serious allegations which each faction made against the other.—-AMs.-N.Z. Cable Assn. TAKING THE CENSUS. Received April 3, 55 p.m Sydney, April 3. Strenuous efforts are being made to make the census taking as perfect as possible.
