OAONUI FATALITY.
ONE BODY RECOVERED. VERDICT AT THE INQUEST. The body of the Maori, Naku Rang! (known as Jimmy Rangi), who was on® of the three natives who lost their lives in a boating accident off Oaonui on Frii day, was recovered on the beach about two o’clock on Saturday afternoon. The body had been washed up at a spot about 400 yards on the Opunake side of the scene of the tragedy. An inquest was held at Rahotu yesterday by the Coroner (Mr. T. A. B. Bailey, S.M.). Charlie Waru, who was one of the 6ur« vivors, in giving an account of the accident, stated that one of the tiller rope® broke, and the boat got broadside on to the sea and was tipped over. The party clung on to the bottom of th® boat but got washed off. Waru, however, and the other survivor (Waiau) managed to get hold of the oars, bufc they did not see the deceased any more. The coroner brought in a verdict that} death was due to accidental drowning. Up till late yesterday there was no sign of the other two bodies.
