BOROUGH AFFAIRS.
THE FORTHCOMING ELECTIONS. RATEPAYERS SELECT “TICKET.” The municipal elections are to be held on April 27, ani ratepayers’ associations in New Plymouth have been active during the last week or two in endeavouring to secure likely candidates to accept nomination. At a meeting of delegates from the various associations held last night, it was decided to put forward eight candidates for the eight positions on the council, and this “ticket” will receive the official support of ratepayers’ organisations. The names of th 6 nominees are: Messrs. R. L. Parkin and J. Kibby (Fitzroy), A. R. Davies (East End), V. Griffiths (Vogeltown), W. Ruruball (Frankleigh Park), T. N. Blackball (Westown), R. A. Large and. Joseph Brown (St. Aubyn). Of the above three are sittjng councillors, namely, Messrs. Kibby, Parkin, and Griffiths. Other candidates who have had extensive local body experi* ence in the past are Mr. Brown, who is an ex-chairman of the Taranaki County Council, and was also a member of the Taranaki Hospital Board, and Mr. Blackball, who is a former member of the Eltham Borough Council,, and he’d the position of Deputy-Mayor in El* tham for some time.
