THE MINERS’ DEMANDS.
A CONFERENCE AGREED TO. OBJECTION TO CERTAIN CLAUSES By Telegraph.— Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The mine-owners have intimated to the Miners’ Federation that they are prepared to meet representatives in conference to discuss the matter of the agreement, but they will not guarantee to commit themselves to a settlement on the six' demands previously objected to by them and described as far fetched. When the claims were before the employers before they declined to agree to a conference until these clauses were withdrawn. The mine-owners state they cannot concede any arguments which will modify their decision that it is impossible to agree to the six items. Friday, April 15, has been suggested as ,the date for the conference.
