OTIRA TUNNEL.

ELECTRIFICATION SCHEME. OTHER RAILWAY CONTRACTS. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. London, March 31. Sir James Allen has placed a contract for the electrification of the Otira tunnel involving £250,000. Shipments to the New Zealand Government order of 12,000 tons of rails will begin in April. Wheels and axles have already been shipped to New Zealand and the first locomotives will be sent in June and thereafter four weekly until 45 have been dispatched. Twen-ty-five hundred wagons will follow.
