PAINTERS’ CONFERENCE. By Telegraph —Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. The painters’ conference resolved that it should be an instruction from the conference and affiliated associations to agitate that contractors and subcontractors confine their operations to their own special trade; and that allied building trades associations throughout the Dominion be asked to frame bylaws prohibiting other than master painters executing their recognised work as contained in architects’ specifications.
DRAUGHTS CHAMPIONSHIP.
Wellington, Last Night. At the conclusion of the fifteenth round of the draughts championship Boreham and Hilliker are leading with 24 points, Botting 19, Brown 18, Mulvey, I'7, Leggat 16.
PISTOL WITHOUT LICENSE.
By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, April 1. In the Police Court Mr. J. W. Poynton, S.M., fined John Fairley £25, or two months in gaol, fjt carrying a pistol without a license and for refusing to leave a hotel when requested. Fairley and anoflier man were refused . liquor, being under the influence. When they were got out into the street they threatened the licensee and Fairley drew a pistol, which he flourished.
