AUCKLAND’S PORT.
CONGESTION OF SHIPPING. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. The congestion of shipping in Auckland harbor resulting from the recent waterside dispute has not improved to any great extent and to-day there were eight vessels in harbor unable to secure berths. ■, - The present, position ia due mainly, it is stated, ie the demands .for men to work the vessels delayed during the dispute has been in excess of the supply, with the result that the discharging of many ships has progressed slowly. One shipping representative stated that this ’was only to be expected, considering the abnormal conditions preX’a.iling. It w r a» expected, however, that the congestion would be considerably relieved by the beginning of next week when several vessels at present being discharged would have sailed.
