AUCKLAND GROCERS’ VIEW. 2s 8d RETAIL WANTED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. . The following statement has been iM sued by the Auckland grocers: “It hatf, been decided to fix the margin of profit for butter at 12% per cent profit for cash over the counter and 15 per cent for booking and delivery as from April 1. The above margins will not show the grocer any profit, but an actual loss, as their working and trade expenses ara now fully 20 per cent, brought about by shorter hours and a further bonus and. higher wages. This, on a basis of 2a 4}d* wholesale, works out at 2s,Bd per lb retail for cash across the counter and a penny extra booked and delivered.”
