A unique incident occurred in connection with Lord Haig’s visit to Kroonstadt, where he entered the town at the head of a command'of Free State burghers. Replying to the welcome, he recalled the occupation of the town during the Boer War, and thanked the escort, declaring that they were as loyal friends to-day as they were noble enemies twenty years ago.—Aus. and N.Z.
